iPhone for Verizon - Delayed?

F*CK THE IPHONE
anyone who thinks the icrap should come to VZW get the hell off Android Forums

Wow, when did everyone become mods or admins? I want it to come to VZW because:

  • Verizon should have more phone choices available to customers.
  • Many iPhone users ditching AT&T = more money for Verizon.
  • With more users, Verizon will have to continue to expand the network to remain competitive.
  • AT&T and the other carriers will have to step up their game or end up as some little ghetto service provider.
  • Verizon will have to make advances to outdo their advances.
  • Even better, Apple will have to continue to improve the iPhone otherwise winmo 7 and android will continue to eat away at its smartphone market share. Symbian is still ahead of all of them but sees the need to improve to stay that way and has plans to do so.
  • We end up with better technology, possibly at a more attractive cost.
  • Rinse, repeat, win
Finally, I want it because by the sheer desire for such a thing makes people want to eject me from a site that has a VERIZON subsection.

how was that acting like a mod at all?
this is a forum about Android, I was showing my displeasure for the icrap and apple
THe iphone crippled the at&t network with all the fan boys using the bandwidth to find ways to make their phones actually work. VZW is better off without that. Verizon told apple they didn't want the phone in the first place. They finally jumped on the smartphone bandwagon and have accepted Android as the wave of the future. Why dumb things down with a POS Apple Product?

Telling people to leave for not agreeing with you is a flagrant display of impotence whilst playing at being some sort of authority.

Verizon is a business that is just as happy to sell and provide service for good products as they are to make money off of selling you something stupid. The iPhone will sell on Verizon and I don't care if a stupid person wants a stupid product because I live in the united states where people know what they want and it's given to them good and hard! Oh wait...

there is a serious flaw in your theory there, people have been putting up with iphones even when ATT sucks in an area just to have an iphone, so why would verizon HAVE to expand and improve their network if it gained subs? already have them locked in for 2 years?
Verizon will not have to advance anything, they can kick back and let apple market for them....
ATT hasn't bothered to step up their game with the iphone why would VZW? seriously they wouldnt lose enough to become "ghetto" as you say.

We end up with two ginourmous companies setting the price and crushing smaller competition with marketing....we lose. oh wait we already have.......

That is untrue. AT&T has already spent billions improving their network and it shows in the greater DC area. There are still some bad spots, but it has improved significantly. If Verizon experienced a significant increase in users, they would have to increase their capacity to remain competitive as I was discussing about how having more options is better than getting all authoritative and demanding that people not get or talk about iPhones because you don't like them.

You are right that the two have done some price fixing, but when Verizon made a cheaper data plan for feature phones, AT&T dropped their prices for other things to remain comaprable. It didn't affect people who use smartphones, but the price of entry is a bit cheaper to use mobile internet services. If it gets more people to use data on Verizon, it will be a success. Their method of requiring the dataplan on things like the EnV and other devices could produce interesting results. When the differences in technology and reliability go away, the only objective criteria that will be left is cost.

I am curious to see how many people fall for the upsell and get a smartphone when they would have been just as happy with one of LG's typical devices, or if they will bag the idea entirely and just get a normal phone.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but seriously if verizon has all the business they will NOT have to "invest to stay competitive" thier network won't crumble like ATT's did because they have invested more in the past. And if it does, they will bleed it dry until they start losing subs because of it.
I dont "hate" the iPhone, I simply do not understand why so many people love it and defend it all costs, I do however hate the fanboys that I hear on a daily basis say its the "best phone ever", then run to an outlet cause the battery is dead by 9 am, or drop 6 calls in a row then tell me I need to switch cause its awesome. I equally hate the VZW fanboys that defend some horrific practices by VZW by saying "you have to pay to use the 'best network' " Like the data plan you mention I think, they are shoving data down peoples throats that dont want or need it. I get it on a smartphone but c'mon they force it on an Entice?? decent phone but not something you are gonna spend hours surfing the web...its rediculous. they do it now because they can get away with it, why can they get away with it....because they're HUGE! if you think adding subs will help the consumer in anyway I just truely do not understand your logic

The problem is that the day the networks are comparable and it comes down to competitive pricing are far, far off. Verizon is now pumping in money and resources to upgrade their footprint to 4G. It's pretty much entirely 3G right now. AT&T, on the other hand, is improving their existing network but they still lack the 3G footprint. I've traced my routes to visit family in the NE and while Verizon is 3G over 100% of that area, AT&T is only 70%, and one of the locations for my family is GPRS roam for AT&T (35kbps typical - pathetic). AT&T has A LOT of work cut out for them, much more than Verizon and I'm betting the more rural areas go largely ignored since they'll have to keep pace with Verizon.

Odd considering ATT has Android and WMO phones as well as the iPhone.
u cant consider the backflip an android phone, with all the disabling at&t did on that phone its nothing more then a glorified media phone... iphone and at&t fanboys all claim verizon sux because the disable stuff on there phones which hasnt been done in over a year... but now look whos doin it...

Not true, the Omnia is WAY locked up.

But the Droid wasn't (in terms of gimping the phone, not locking it to a carrier). Maybe the carriers are taking turns switching places--like Activision did with EA, or Apple is doing with Microsoft... Google is doing like Apple.)

Let me rephrase that, the Omnia has almost all of it features disabled or changed per VZW. On that note I am very happy to see that VZW is getting the message and not messing with phones as much as they used to.

Hey you guys think verizon will come out with a home app in their trademark big red design? :D

I don't want the iPhone on VZW's network either but don't you think that the VZW network would be able to handle the load placed on it by the iPhone better than AT&T's network?
