iphone-like messaging app?

I'm really not even looking for a messaging app that looks like the iphone app, just one that acts like it. Every messaging app I've tried on android all take you back to the list of all messages after you reopen it again, and I'd really like to find one that keeps the last person you were texting open until you TELL it to go back. A modified version of the stock app would be best, but are there any that can do this?

nah that still takes you back to the list of messages again (or I haven't found a setting for it yet). I really would love to find something like this, it's annoying to have to click on the same person you are texting every time

I don't know any app like this, but how about pressing "home" button after texting? When you'll reopen it, you'll be back there again. Or maybe creating shortcuts for most frequent contacts will be a solution?

Handscent will do this...its in the options because I remember how I hated how handcent did what u were wanting and I didn't lik it. I got it set to the way I like it and the way u don't and have not thought about it since. Play around in the options. If I can remember how...i'll post

Open handcent
click on the upper right sprocket. That opens up a list.
click settings
scroll down a little, there is a feature that says always home. For you...make sure that is unchecked.

My default messaging client returns to the previous message thread. Not sure if that's a 2.2 thing or not since I'm still a noob with android.

Yeah on 2.1 if I push home while I'm in a thread with someone, when I go back into messaging it's still there. Also, like someone said, the quick messaging short cuts are great!
