iPhone played in car how do I convert it to SGN2

I have a two year old BMW X5 which had an accessory fitted to play my iPhone through the cars audio/video system.
At the user end of this system is a cable with on one end a USB connector AND a 3.5 audio plug which plug into the car ( in the glove box) and on the other end the original Apple connector.
I would post a picture but don't know how do that.
Is there a connector I can buy to connect my SGN2 to this.
Thanks
I have now found a link to a picture of the interface

Just get a cable with 3.5mm plug on both ends and plug one end in the car and the other end in the phones jack and you should hear the audio through the aux just like with your iPhone.

Edlex, that sounds good for a first step. I will go out and buy one in the next 24 hours.
However is there am official connector that will give me control of the note through my on board computer.
Thanks

Does your car have Bluetooth?

When I ordered the car and specified the factory fitted extras (that's how you buy a new car in Luxembourg) 31 months ago I decided not to pay for the Bluetooth. Sounds crazy now but who new, I did not.
