iPhone users?

Really? i was just starting to see Galaxy S3s show up. too bad they use that blasted Sprint network. Owensboro is one big dead zone with Sprint.

Whoa. this is why i went contract with my GS3. they wanted $699 for the GS3 without contract :0 My iPhone 4 was used for $150 (boy, they depreciate fast!) at some music/game exchange place but i had to force it to work with Net10 via BYOP so suffice it to say it refused to get on the data network, no 3G or EDGE, i had to use wifi for data.

I've been contemplating switching to a iphkne...my primary reasoning is that all my Android devices seen to develop annoying little quirks after a year or so...do any current iPhone users notice this? Things like very slow dialing screen, etc.

You can usually fix that with a factory data reset.

If you're rooted you can fix it non-invasively with Android Tuner, and optimize databases.

Just like a PC, a little maintenance goes a long way. :)

The 64GB iPhone 5 is $750! Oh my. I thought the highest those reached was $600.

It's higher than that Kate. Unlocked non-carrier 64GB iPhone 5 in the US is $849. And here in China it's slightly less than $1100....which is probably about what a pair of Gucci shoes would cost. ...but then high-end Samsungs, like the S4, can be exceedingly expensive as well.

Also, do you have to pay a security deposit with a postpaid carrier such as Verizon if you have bad or no credit? For some people, going postpaid is not an option because of this.

my first iPhone was a 3GS. i remember it getting its share of the bugs after awhile too. it had one big one i kid you not that happened each month on the day of activation. say it was activated June 15, each 15th it'd do this--the battery would drain uber fast and be dead in literally an hour. i wouldn't know it until i tried to wake it up and got this screen:

AT&T told me it was an 'automatic battery calibration' but not sure if that was true or not.

Any other day it would go for about 18 hours before it'd die. another nice little bug was it constantly dropping 3G to EDGE and never getting 3G back unless i force-rebooted it. if it dropped to EDGE it absolutely refused to connect to the internet for any reason.

After jailbreaking it, i got many of the same quirks as a rooted Android phone. it would randomly reboot, freeze at the Apple logo, and all sorts of stuff. it'd glitch and crash-to-desktop often if i was running extremely intensive apps or games.

It also did this about once a month as well. required a new SIM

Boss's iPhone 4 did this once too, only it was not even warm, much less hot. he had to get a new one:

Wow.

So now if you use the iphone 4 too much or what ever the hell it is you now need to wait for it to freaking cool down?

After you've forked out 1000's upon 1000's of hard earned rands you now need to deal with something like this?

How pathetic.

Just pathetic.

You can get cheap android Chinese tablets, phones and various other devices for HALF or even WAY less than half for a damn iphone.

You can't remove the battery on some of them but the ones that have some kind fo shell you can remove the battery and disconnect power if you need to let the ram cool down.

Some of them are so awesome you can even remove the internal SD card if you have screwed up the Android OS (or other) on a monumental scale.

This is a very old device but you can add internal Bluetooth - all sorts of stuff if you are very adventurous.

I wanted to get one of these a long time ago but other stuff came round at an even better price, I don't know if this video will show you the internal micro sd card slot but you can not only remove the sd card but replace it with a much much bigger one if you desire.

It is extremely hard to brick this machine because you can remove internal storage looks hard to open but maybe it might not be:

Why is it that I see some many teachers/students using iPhones? I live in Oklahoma city and go to school for computer support and troubleshooting. Even the techies seem to be using them.

Are iPhones better/more helpful for college students or what?

I know this is an android site and my second home, but I feel I can still get an unbiased answer here. Thanks.

Like another user said, alot of times Apple gives discounts for educational institutions. That will change though because Google is now making contracts for schools for way cheaper than apple would ever dream to make them.

Apple is an old company. It has its place. For now at least.

When I jail broke mine it went into bootloop. It wouldn't come out of it. I tried rejailbreaking it, and it would show the process on the phone screen.

Nothing. Still bootloop.

Tried using custom firmware, restoring, everything. Still can't figure out what happened.

Finally I just threw it in the garbage and went to Android. Never looking back.

the Grand National was just a Monte Carlo SS with a Buick Grille. The most overrated car in Buick's 80s lineup.

Both G bodies from GM but the Grand National was a different beast under the hood. The 87 GN would beat the 87 corvette at the drag strip.

1987 Grand National had 245 HP and 355 lbs/torque.
0-60 in 6.1 sec.
1/4 mile in 14.7 sec.

1987 C4 Corvette had 240 HP and 345 lbs/torque.
0-60 in 6.3 sec.
1/4 mile in 15.1 sec.

Granted, the C4 Vette was a pretty crappy Vette (bad time for performance back then) and the C4 handled better than the GN when you had to turn. :)

There were also over 500 GN GNXs built in 1987. They made 276 hp. Definitely not a re-badged Monte Carlo SS (which made about 180 HP). The GNXs were really expensive though.

Back on topic. I think the iPhones appeal to students because they are trendy. The teachers probably see a large population of the student body using them, which influences them to purchase the iPhone as well. I have no hard evidence, just my opinion.
