Help iPhone vs Android

Since iphones normally last around 3 years until further updates aren't available for it, how long would a typical android last? Is android like iphones where if you don't update the os, you can't use certain apps anymore?

My oldest Android phone was bought in 2012, the last update I received on that phone was the 4.4

The phone still work flawlessly through a couple of new batteries. My kids use it to play games that they find on Play store. Of course some games are made for newer phones with more powerful hardware. But if you use an Android phone as a phone (just to make calls and send messages), it would last a very longtime.

Well at least with Android phones you still can find some great phones with audio jack and removable battery.

I just went backwards from 6.0 to 4.4.4 on a rooted phone.

I have had no problems period, all of my apps work on 4.4.4

I have phones running kitkat, lollipop and marshmallow right now. Uses them all very often and almost all apps aside from very niche apps works with no problem.

Some apps in the Play Store do require a minimum OS level but the older ones are upwards compatible.
Is that even a phrase? Maybe a hyphen? upwards-compatible.

I've heard of Backwards-Compatibility a lot, and I think once Forward-Compatibility, But you may have coined a new phrase with
upwards-compatible.

Lol

I like it :)

support iPhone truly work with my home drive

Hi there,
Are you asking a bunch of Android Users for Answers to Iphone problems?

I'm Not Sure that you'll find Many answers for Iphone questions here, except for threads such as this where we discuss the merits of the two OS's and such.

Or threads where we all get together to watch Android Piss On Iphone...

But I try to be a good guy and help so I recomend you to try posting your Iphone related SUPPORT question at the following location.

https://discussions.apple.com/community/iphone

Maybe someone over there would be able to actually give you the help you need.

Hope it helps.
