Help iPlayer woes - is anyone happy with it?

Hi,

I've recently moved from an HTC Desire HD to an S3, and it's a great step up. However, one area where I've lost an important feature is with using the BBC iPlayer, so I'm hoping that someone else might have an answer.

Firstly, I discount the iPlayer app, because I cannot sign into my BBC account with it, thereby losing easy access to my favourites. Also, I tend to use the iPlayer mainly for radio catch-up, and the app lacks the ability to sort a category (say "Comedy") by date added. Also the player stops if I switch to another app, typically Kindle, so that I can read whilst listening.

The mobile version of iPlayer also has many limitations, so it seems clear that accessing the desktop version is the answer. With my Desire HD, running Android v2.35, I found that Miren browser did everything I wanted, continuing to play in the background, which no other browser seemed able to do. Unfortunately, Miren is no longer being developed and it refuses to play flash at all under Android v4.04.

So far I've tried most of the available browsers and can't find a single one which continues to play in the background - a very annoying limitation. My only solution - and it's not a good one, is to use the browser to find programmes and then use TuneIn to play them, which it does faultlessly.

If anyone has solved this problem, I'd be very grateful to know the answer!

Thanks,

John

p.s. I have the latest version of Flash installed and here is a list of all the browsers I've tried:

Maxthon (my favourite)
