IR blaster anyone?

So, I was just playing with quick remote for the first time. Not very impressed. I found my TV and got it working, but you need to point almost laser pointer precise at the devices IR receiver for it to work. So far, I have been u able to get a learned code to work at all. Not for a TiVo or a Samsung DVD player. I figure this is probably a stupid use for a phone and am fine letting it go, but has anyone had more success?

I was having similar problem tonight, although mine was trying to figure out what to select for my Sky+HD box ... I tried just sky, and skyplus .. .but no joy

I got mine working just fine, but really found it to be unnecessary. I was able to get my TV (Sony), cable box (Cox), and A/V receiver (Pioneer) working well. Didn't really have any issues with IR direction. I'm not going to use it, as I already have a universal for my living room, but I may end up using it for me bedroom tv and box. We shall see.

I sure have.

12 feet from my TV, works fine.

Learned codes from my unknown to the civilized humans cable box receiver work fine.

I am pretty impressed with the G3 QRemote, to say the least.

As of stupid use of the phone, ppl pay close to $1K to have standalone device which can only function as a visual remote. Of course those have macros and nicer icons, but still.

I actually use mine all the time. Kids lose the remote in my room all the time.
I actually setup a custom remote for my bluray. Think it turned out great and sort of fun. You need the actual remote to learn the code though. I need the time to do my living room stuff too.

Legalkill .. good remote, didn't realise you could customise it like that .... didn't see an option for that .. perhaps I need to look closer

I'd also be interested in how you did that. I would love to configure my remote differently.

Edit: Nevermind. Go to "+" and then "Customizable remote". Awesome option.

I was surprised there wasn't default support for lg bluray, but custom remote is fine. My living room tv is about 12 to 15 feet from where i usually use it mounted on wall. It works fine.

I really like the IR blaster on the G3. I have it on my notification bar as a quick button and it comes super handy. I haven't reached for the original TV remote control for weeks!

However, you do have to point the IR blaster directly at the TV. For me it's a minor issue.
