I'll agree, that is an ironic quote.
The irony that I see is this.
I lean more towards the idea that ""common "sense"" is more of a misnomer. When you truly think about it, what is "common" for one could be entirely foreign to another. Leaviing the concept "common" sense to relate primarily to local idioms, practices and social aspects.
