Is 60 dollars worth it for this phone?

Hello, I was offered this phone for 60 dollars and am wondering if it is worth it. I have been reading that this phone has problems after a couple of months of use. Any opinions on this?

Also, to activate the phone I need it to have a good ESN and its UICC card right?

You can get it for $29 at the Metro store.
Read the forums under everything root - almost impossible to mod (so far, but we all have faith in the guys there)
But it's a good phone - fast, I tether with Klink faster than DSL so don't pay the $10 for wifi hotspot, just get the unlimited $60 package. read the benchmark thread - it's up there with the high-end brand names.
Huawei's support is crap, however.

Has to have a good esn, but they'll pop a new card in each time it's activated. Before you buy, call metro from it & they'll tell you if it's good or not. If seller won't let you do that, tell him to take a hike.

Thanks for the response. I called the local metropcs stores around here and none of them had it in stock. I read it went for 29 dollars new to get rid of stock, but have had no luck. I know on ebay, the going price is around 60. I just want to know how you guys feel about the phone. Any drawbacks or apps that don't work. Frequent crashes, etc...

The phones great imo. Only drawbacks being the battery and sometimes resets itself, But that latter might be a metro problem.

I couldnt be happier with this phone, I got it for $30 brand new from Metro.

got this phone for 30 so i cant really complain but i dont really like the build quality if this phone feels cheap cameras good but it looks washed out it has random reboots, crappy battery life and also i noticed data jumps alot it will be 4g for a couple of seconds then it will go to but overall its an okay phone i think its worth 60 though but thats probably the most i would pay. ima save up for the l9

I talked the guy down to 50, so I am going to meet him up and hopefully this phone wont be a disappointment. Hopefully some nice hacks come out for it. I loved my esteem and I think this phone could have some potential.

Honestly bud, I use this as my work phone. My personal phone and a few hobby phones are all Verizon Droid razrs, xt912's. But for the price you can't be unhappy with this premia. I got mine for $100 brand new from metro, rooted it instantly anger flashed the darkside rom. It runs waaaayyyy smoother than factory and I used a simple CPU setter application, NoFrillsCPU to dial it down to save battery life (factory life sucks) and I do have. Few random reboots every now and again but It's not horrible for What I paid..... if it was my first android I'd be reallllly upset and have chucked it for my blackberry back, but I don't mind the occasional restart I guess, It mainly happens while I have say, 3 or 4 heavy apps open, a few browser windows, some system tweak stuff maybe an mp3 player rolling....nothing my xt912 would flinch at but for a pre-paid $100 dual core 1.5ghz Droid that's set up pretty descent for me, it works for me.... best of luck with your choice.

Thanks, I bought the phone it is quite good so far. I am enjoying it and tomorrow I will probably root it when I have the chance.

I will say to anyone buying this phone to make sure the person selling it to you will include the "Sim" card with it. I had the guy with me in the store to make sure I can activate it. He was going to keep the "sim" card because he thought it worked like a normal sim card. The employee had to tell him to go get the card because that phone would only work with the card it came with. If I didn't take that extra precaution, I would be out 50 bucks. The guy said it was all ready for activation but didn't know anything about the card. Luckily he had it in his car.

Glad you made out on the deal without getting ripped off. I rooted mine without a PC using framaroot. Simply download it, install, push the 2nd of the two options I believe and wham-o, your rooted.

After root you can install recovery via terminal emulator too. For a full root/recovery setup without pc

Wow, sounds nice. Hopefully it all goes well. I will probably root it on Monday. I would like to film the process so that I may share with others. Wont be my first rooted phone, wont be my last.
