Is a Kindle HDX 8.9 considered an Android?

You can put whatever you want in your profile ;)
Doesn't have to all be Android related, folks use all sorts of different stuff and list it, or don't. No rules...except of course the real rules. There are real rules, but that's not one of them.
Welcome to the forums, kick back and have fun.

Where can I find the real rules? I looked at them I think but I forgot what they say

edit: my main phone is not an Android but my back up is.

The Kindle is closer to android than it IOS. It's android based. In fact you can side load an android app store that's similar to play store

The Kindle runs a 'forked' version of Android, which removes a lot of the google specific system library and features etc... but the Amazon Appstore contains a l0t of the same apps that are in the Google Play store. So its definitely part of the Android Family

You can side load 1 mobile market. Trying to load the Google stuff is very hard to get it to work properly. 1 mobile market isn't a bad app store
