Is Antivirus needed?

So I just purchased the Samsung Mesmerize from US Cellular. I downloaded kies mini and ran the up date. Now I'm spending time adding apps and personalizing my phone. I was just wondering if there was a point in installing antivirus and if so what program would be recommended?

Welcome to the Android Forums! If you're looking for some extra security on your device, a lot of people seem to use "Lookout Mobile Security" which is a free app in the marketplace.

No... antivirus is not needed "at this time". That said there will come a time in the not too terribly distant future where it will likely become necessary. At last check I think there were less than 10 known Android exploits in the wild,
