Is Antivirus really needed?

Hi, just got a Samsung Galaxy Ace, and after having the common "memory full" message started deleting apps which automatically stored on the internal memory and not the sd card. I have now got my internal memory at 102 mb, but would like to get it below 100mb.
I have AGV antivirus installed, which sits on the internal memory and cant be moved (I have apps2SD installed)
Is there a need to have it, i will only download apps from Googleplay, and only with a high satisfaction rating, nothing dodgy

I'll have to find the source but supposedly those Anti virus will only scan existing files / apps. As for getting a virus you really only need to worry about application permissions. Make sure they make sense with what you're trying to do. For example if a music player asks permission to download and install apps don't get it.

ClarkMP is very right, you don't need an anti-virus, they are usually heavy on memory and unmovable to sd and solve no purpose. Just keep a look on the permissions the app wants before downloading and just think 'why that app needs that permissions?'
There'll be many apps with unnecessary permissions requirement, just be careful of them.

As for the sd card contents, you can always scan them through a pc anti-virus if you need to.

I use avast anti virus and I don't mind it i can do a few things with it for example I can lock my phone remotely. I don't think anti virus is really needed I just use it for a little extra security
