Help Is AV needed ?

I have had almost 8 years of Windows experience. I know my dos and don'ts in web surfing etc.
Question :
Do I need an AV for my android tablet.
If yes, is Avast good enough ?

You do not need any of the anti-virus apps.
I don't even trust the ones that are pre-installed on the devices (Lookout,etc.....).
Your best bet is to continue with your dilligence,by not clicking on pop-ups & if you need to side-load apps outside of the Google Play Store,only do so from known/trusted sites.
I'd take it a step further though & use browsers with ad-blocking options,or use something like Ad Guard:
