Is battery life so bad?

I want to buy this handset but I've heard that the battery backup is very poor .
Is it true? If the battery lasts about 24 hours with above normal usage it's perfect(that is if i use live wallpapers,and max brightness,etc.,in other words the full experience of this phone).I'm ok with charging it every night.



This is the only thing that holds me from buying SGA.:)

So does the battery last 24 h without managing the phone(use only static predominant black wallpapers,low brightness etc(things that save battery) )

I want to enjoy the full experience of my phone(with moderate usage-web browsing,texting and caling) without sacrificing some of it's options(such as live wallpapers,and max brightness)
 
Yep you can do all that.. dont worry about the storys.. i use mine heavily.. although you cant use screen with full brightness and play a game for about one hour and expect battery life to last.. but for a normal user with wifi.. some gaming and stuff you can

Just make sure you install Juice Defender. Trust me it helps :)
 
Most are complaining about how bad is the battery, how it drains so quickly, right?, so i have done couple changes to the phone like below.

1) Disable GPRS / 3G immdiately ( Other wise it will try to sync the data & if you dont subscribe for any GPRS, so service provider will charge.)
2) Kill un - used services in Task Manager
3) Brightness to zero
4) Black wall paper... ( No live wall papers)

5) Go to "settings" ( SAMSUNG GALAXY Ace GT S5830)> "Location and security"
> My location > Un check-Un select "Use wireless networks"

6) Download application :Android booster
7) Never update your backup (password) to your gmail account.

This is all great.. Awesome..
but i have a little update for you guys :D

Yesterday i was a little busy.. so didn use the phone much for other than texting and whatsapp.. so Wifi was always on
When randomly checking my phone battery widget.. it was at 71% and the usage prediction was 1 day and 1 hour!! Amazing!! :D

P.s. used juice defender with root access to underclock my processor to 600Mhz when phone is idle.. damn it helps!!

Its Juice Defender Ultimate..

Controls:

Mobile Data: Enabled (although i manually disable it from the settings
Keep Enabled: Data (this should preferably be off but i want to keep it on even when my screen is locked in case i use Messenger)

CPU: Enabled (i believe this did the trick)
Speeds: min 122, max idle 320, max 800
Governer: on demand(default)

Schedules: None

Triggers:

Battery: Enabled
Threshold: 15%
Charger: AC
Screen: Enabled
Options: Ignore on low battery

Traffic: Enabled
Threshold: Low, 2m
Apps: Enabled (since i want Data/Wifi to be 24/7 on if i am using this application 'WhatsApp')
Configure: ''WhatsApp''

Location:Enabled (since i want it to switch off Wifi as soon as i go out of range of my home Wifi.. in case i forget :) )

If you have JD Ultimate.. then you'd know what all these are! But hey these are NOT the best configurable settings! You can get much more by disabling / enabling more options

Btw the indicator was Battery Monitor Widget Pro

hai.......I am New Here.
I just bought this phone 2 days ago.Just wanted to know abt charging battery.Usually we need to use the battery totaly become Zero then only charge the phone or half of it we must start charging oledi??

No need to wait till it gets to 0% thats not practical but atleast wait till it goes below 20% and also.. once you start charging dont unplug till the full battery warning.. also avoid trickle charging as much as possible.. as in USB charging..
and trust me you would only worry about this whole battery life/charging thing for the first few months.. later on you couldnt care less :P

I have found the battery on this phone to be a bit poor compared to other Android phones, but I suppose I'll get used to it.

Using a percentage indicator app and the battery usage chart in the Settings, I observe the following things:

- The phone will report no battery reduction during hours and hours of standby, but then as soon as you do anything the percentage drops rapidly, like it had steadily lost about 3% per hour during standby and is only now catching up.
- Generally I get about 1 minute of Angry Birds per 1 percent of battery. So 30 mins of Angry birds takes 30% of the battery. I think it's similar for watching video and using the web browser.
- The last 10% of battery lasts a good while, but you can't do much because the screen forces itself to its lowest brightness.
- When recharging from the mains it gets back up to 100% within an hour, but then takes up to another 2 hours to give the "100%" alert (by the way, I could do without this alert chiming late at night. Is there any way to turn it off? It uses whatever notification sound is set to default.)

I'm on stock 2.3.3 in the UK, data switched off until I choose to go online, screen at 35%, clear memory frequently, not many widgets on homescreens, 3G left on because strangely enough I get a weak 2G signal around here.
