Is Best Buy 2 year Protection Plan Good?

ive been reading about our phone and it seems some things are not working properly "signal flunctuation". anyway i wanted to get best buys 2 year protection plan so if anything happens im covered. i want to know is it any good. will they allow exchanges for phones and stuff like that? anyone's experience with them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :D:D:D

Yeah, I think it's worth it. Helped me tremendously when I had the Triumph. Was able to exchange without any fuss. I've read the fine print of the coverage so I'm prepared should there be any issues, but so far so good. I got it on this phone too, and barring any changes to the policy, I'll get it on future phones I buy too.

The best thing about the plan is you get the full value for the original phone. So if you buy the EVO for $300 and you have to use the warranty next summer and the EVO is $200, you make a $100 profit which you can pay the $40 for a new plan and still have $60 left over on a gift card. Or you could buy a different phone for $150 and save even more.

It's not good, it's great. I'm a strong believer in GSP.

It's more than a warranty or insurance. Non-contact phones are available in 1 or 2 year plans, which covers you against accidental damage, normal wear and tear, battery replacement...etc. There is no deposit or anything either. When phones start getting carried off contract, the manufacturer usually doesn't care if the phone is fixable or not. So you won't have to worry about getting a refurbished or repaired phone, you'll get hooked up with a new one right out of the drawer. Then your old phone gets wiped, and PRC'd. Never re-sold.

Buying the plans with contract phones is even better, because you get the trade-in plus program for free. You also get a loaner phone if it needs to be serviced, and you can pay for it monthly which you can cancel at any time.

Remember that Best Buy Mobile doesn't work on commission either, so if you're offered the plan, it's because it's actually believed it'll work for you.

Its so good took in my phone today I have the lg e returned my warranty for me too so not only did I get 130 back I got a 20 bucks back from warranty don't think she was to do that but work for me

I had the 2-year plan for the MT, paid for $40. And a week after the evo released, I went to BB and ask for exchange. No extra money beside the $40 I pay for and the other $40 for the new evo. So totally cost $80 for the upgrade. Not too bad tho isn't it.

I believe that it covers everything besides loss and water damage. And as others have stated that unlike the Virgin insurance "which sucks" you can get an entirely different phone as a replacement if the original phone is no longer available or you have had to swap out your phone twice under warranty. All you need to do is pay the difference, no $100 deductible or monthly recurring payment.

Actually it does cover water damage, just not water submersion. Water can't be allowed to seep into the phone and flag all of the water damage indicators. Splashing your phone with water means you're still covered. You just can't go deep sea diving with your phone. :p

You don't get theft protection, but you do get a Locked and Found app that can track your phone from a computer.

Heyas folks I probably should be calling BBM about this, but saw this thread and thought I'd ask here first. Looks like my Triumph just bricked, but I have the 2 year Best Buy protection. I bought my Triumph for $210 during the 30% off sale and the BBM I got it from no longer carries Triumphs. Now if I were to trade in my phone, could I upgrade to the Evo V? If so will I have to pay the 90 dollar difference, or will I get the same credit since at the time Triumphs were selling for $300 sans deal.

Yeah if you take it back they will let you pick up any other phone of equal or lesser value or you can pay the difference and get the evo. The value of the triumph is based on what you actually paid not the retail price. That said, I don't think they'll help you if it's bricked.

Ah, thanks. Bricked perhaps was the wrong term. My Triumph basically isn't charging and thus won't boot up. I've never rooted or otherwise tampered with the software besides basic apps.

You should be fine as long as you can pull up your replacement plan info. You will get the full amount that you paid to use toward a new phone. If your new phone costs less than that, they will give you a gift card for the remaining balance.

I have a similar situation, I dropped my MT a couple days ago, the screen went nuts. I took it into the store, they didn't even try to turn it on. I paid around $210 for it in the first place, so to get the Evo V, I just have to pay the $90 + tax.

Actually, for the $40 I paid for the protection plan, they refund me the prorated portion. Since it's been just 1 year, they refunded me half of it. :)

The bad thing is Virgin Mobile don't let me keep the $25 plan, said I have to use the $35 plan now. So, I might switch to T-Mobile Monthly 4G for $30 a month. But I could wait...

Another question is, the $40 protection plan, now they say it does NOT cover drop/spill. See http://images.bestbuy.com:80/BestBuy_US/en_US/images/abn/brnd/brndstr/geek2/gsp_mobile.pdf

That's part of the "Advanced Plan", which costs double. Anyone knows if that's true?

I probably didn't have that for the MT, I did drop it, but the guy said there's no noticeable physical damage so he's fine with it.
