Help Is camera flash LED dimmable?

Is there a flashlight app that uses the camera flash LED and have adjustable brightness?

Is this feature even possible? Or does the API supports only on or off? Even so it may be possible to simulate different brightness level by strobing it at high frequency with different duty cycle.

I have a google galaxy nexus I9250 running android 4.3.

AFAIK, its only on or off, at least on the GNex. And it can't strobe fast enough to give the illusion of different brightness.

Tiny Flashlight is pretty good, gives a good strobe effect with intervals that you can set.
