Help Is GMail slow to sync my contacts? (Details Inside

Okay so I *think* my contacts are being synced from my GMail account since I'm signed into my phone with my GMail account.

I went to update my friends phone number, as you can see in this picture below I updated her number with the new one and took all the old ones out and let it save.

But when I go back to my phone it still shows her old numbers...Why..?Anyway i can fix that..?

I have found that the external 'accounts' directories, and the phone's internal accounts directories are separate, and don't sync all that well.

That situation got so bad for me, that I refuse to allow 'outside accounts" to interface with my phone. I rely solely on Verizon's Backup Assistant to preserve my contacts list and the phone's contact list is the only one I use.

I hate it when 2, 3, and 4 instances of the same contact show up as your picture shows is happening.

I won't even allow the SD card to hold a copy of my contacts. That showed up as doubles on my last phone.

This is just weird and is starting to annoy me, I even went in and disabled syncing my Google Account contacts and went back to send a text to my friend Heather and it is still displaying 2 numbers for her when I only have one in there...
