Is it a good time to buy an HTC Desire HD?

Hi,

I've decided that I want an HTC to be my first Android phone. And I've chosen the HTC Desire HD.

However, do you guys think it's a good time to buy one right now? Are there news that will bring the price down soon? I know that it's been awhile that this models been around but I'm wondering if new HTC releases will bring the price down.

Hoping for your input on this.

Probably a better idea is to get HTC Incredible S, if it is already available in your country. It has a better battery life time and is newer.
The prices of both phones are about the same (depending on country).
 
In my country, the HTC Desire HD costs about 540 US dollars (already converted). However, the Incredible S is not yet available here. How much is the Incredible S without a telecom plan/contract?
 
In Canada the Incredible S is going to be released with the same price tag (500$+tax) as the Desire HD.

I don't think the retail price of the Desire HD will drop below that mark, so basically they will cost the same.
 
Great advice Haikuguy. When will it be released in Canada? With taxes, how high can I expect the price to go? I might have to be a little patient and wait for the Incredible S.
 
i bought mine for 145 CAD with tax. a week later, its now 99$+tax (3yr contract)

i dont think its gonna go lower than 99$ for a while since its still a big iphone4 competitor. unless iphone4 drops to give way for iphone5 in June, Desire HD might go lower too, but i dont think its gonna be a free phone (contract wise) for a while.
 
well, the prices will always drop when newer models come out, but that means you might be tempted to get a newer model anyways...like being tempted by the new 3D phones? the dual core goodies? or even the new Sony Play? ive had mine for a good 4-5 months now and feels like the right time then, only have to wait 12-13 months, which is enough time for new tech like the 3D stuff (if it ever catches on) to mature.

If i was in your position, i'll be struggling to decide...

same as the Desire HD.

The thing is, I don't think the Desire HD's price is going to drop once the Incredible S comes here.

I think they both will probably stay on this price for a year or so.

And by "price" I mean the retail price ("499.99" which is actually 565$ with tax), and not the contracts which are almost never worth it.
 
Just read today that the Nexus S is coming to Canada, I'm on Telus so I can choose between the Desire HD and Nexus S since my upgrade is ready, I need to figure out the differences between the two.
