Hi im kinda new here i dont know if this is the right place to post this.
But i was wondering if i could update my phone from gingerbread to jelly bean or atleast ice cream sandwich. Cuz its kinda lagging on me here are my specs

Phone/model :- Videocon A10
Android Version:- 2.3.5
Processor:- 1 GHz
Ram :- 256MB

Also ive read that there are customizable versions of these android versions specifically for our phone, So i was wondering like if a phone has the same specs as mine should i go for those roms. Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum :)

If the manufacturer hasn't provided an upgrade then your only choice is to root it and install a custom ROM based on a more recent android build. That is, if somebody has made such a ROM for that phone.

The problem is that android always has to be built for the specific phone, there is no "generic" version which can be installed on any hardware. So unless someone has produced a build for your model there's no way of doing this other than learning how to build it yourself.

That's not a very high spec, so if by "lagging" you mean responsiveness (rather than compatibility with newer apps) it's not a given that this will be improved by a later Android version - it could well do the opposite.

the specs are very low.. the ram is extremely low.

sounds like a phone that is built by a small company.. most likely will never update the android software.

these types of phones do NOT have a very big following.. and therefore no developers that will create ROMs for it. Do NOT try ROMs designed for other phones.
90% you will break the phone .. for good!!!

I am guessin you are stuck with what you got .. they way it came.

Hi Dushwin, welcome to the site :)

I moved your thread to the "Other Phones" forum since we don't have a specific forum for the A10.

Ic thanks for the replies. But one last doubt is there anywhere i can give a request to make a rom for my phone or anyway i can make my own?

based on post #4 by Kate..
your phone does not have a big enough following to even have its own sub-forum. where developers can get things posted.
you might try this other site: www.xda-developers.com
but that also might be a long shot.

you sure can develop your own ROM.. IF
the manufacture has released all the info and files needed.
if you know programming..
if you want to test/risk all this on your phone..
this is NOT a quick thing to do!
