Help Is it dead?

My Galaxy s5 won't turn on. Been this way for 2 days. Went to bed Wednesday night at 11pm the battery had a charge of 51%. When I got up in the morning the phone at 530am the phone wouldn't wake up, I thought the battery was dead so I plugged it in and charged it for hours. About 8hrs to be truthful. Nothing. From the limited amount of time I've had this phone, I like it. This is my third smartphone and am really pleased with it.

Any ideas to ask/tell Verizon when I go to visit them tomorrow? I got this phone last Saturday.

It seems the battery is defective.

Did you remove the battery from the phone?

That is not a usual thing to have happen, but you must remove the battery to do a Full Reset of the phone when it locks up completely.


IF removing the battery works, then see if it continues to work for you. You have 14 days to return it...

Tried pulling the battery twice, no luck either time. I thought kinda the same way. Pull the battery for a few minutes reinsert and got nothing.
Wish the Verizon store was closer.

When u put the battery back do u see the boot screen? The other day I accidentally hit the un-checkbox for auto screen brightness. I was outside and didnt realize what had happened, only that I could not see my screen anymore......could not figure out what the heck happened. Pulled the battery a couple of times. Finally got inside with it and coild barely see the screen outline in a dimly lit room. Felt like such a bonehead! ! But, I've never seen a phone with such a dark screen when brightness all the way down!
