Is it just me or is the sgs3 for metro way too overpriced?

500$?!? I mean yeah, its a badass phone, but for pete's sake, its for metropcs. Does anyone else think they should lower the price just a tad bit?

Not at all. Why should the same phone cost less just because it is a different carrier. $500 is the low end of an off contract price. Normally it is $500-750 (excluding a Nexus bought from Google Play)

Hmm well I look at it as it's a fairly new phone so why should they reduce the price? And on a side note this thread has nothing to do with the admire at all lol

This is gunna get moved lol. But I'm commenting for the hell of it. Ohkay, look here people, The Samsung Galaxy S3 is priced $500 dollars because you are paying for a HIGHLY anticipated, BRAND NEW, & NO CONTRACT phone. Don't get me wrong, the pricing is high yes, I understand that, but it's worth what you're paying for. Phone with other companies like AT&T, and T-Mobile all have contracted phones that's why they can get them at like $100-$200 dollars off rip. Metro is non contract which means when you buy the phone it's YOURS an no company or store can tell you what to do with it, and you can switch phones whenever the hell you want. The S3 is a High Quality & Top End phone so you better be willing to pay top end prices for the best and stop complaining ;) The phone wont be at that price forever. Plus Black Friday is coming up so of course they'll have a deal then, if you want it to be a tad bit cheaper, that is when you wanna get it. Now stop complaining.

Lol not to be rude but.
This thread has nothing to do with the admire... make a new thread in the MetroPCS Section ;)

Thread moved to the proper section. Sorry I didn't catch where it was posted, thanks for the heads up everyone.

This phone is not worth anything less than $499 on Metro. I am glad I paid for it. No regrets.

I think so, whichever way you look at it(if TMob possibility for you):

- there are better existing or about to come out models at better prices to boot.

- i'd prefer to spend that on any combo of a laptop / tablet / couple lesser phones...which of course would also entail family / tethering plans...

how about you go get it from T-Mobile ,sprint or at&t off contract for $549 16gb & $599 32gb. oh & Verizon has it 32gb for $599 & 32gb $649.... stop complaining about the price..if its overpriced to u,go get the s2 on boost or get a motion..

Let's see....500 clams and it's yours vs.
2 year contract at, let's go super low end here 30 clams/mo.
that's 720 clams
50 clams/mo. 1200 clams
60 clams/mo. 1440 clams
you get the idea :)

$500 is the lowest non contract price offered for this phone anywhere.

what upcoming phones are going to cost less than $500 off contract?

I say it's not expensive at all, and is in fact, the least expensive.
Here's the way I see it;

Verizon SGSIII (w/2 year contract) = $199
2 years service (w/2GB Data) = $2,880

Total (phone + 2 years service) with Verizon = $3,079

Metro PCS SGSIII (with NO contract) = $500
2 years service (unlimited Data) = $1,200

Total (phone + 2 years service) with Metro PCS = $1,700

That's a $1,379 difference, so I think it's A LOT cheaper.

ALL the contract carriers overcharge for the phone - in service charges... people think they're getting the phone cheap, but end up only getting it in the rear. lol
Plus, they almost always try to hit you with an early contract termination fee at the end of the 2 year term if you change carriers. That amounts to another $280. Jerks, every single one of them...

Furthermore.

And this is probably the straw that breaks the camel's back and sends me to Metro.

At VZN the early term is $350. Now, they prorate that at $10 per month of your contract. Whip your abacus out with me here. $10@month for 24 month contract is $240. So..., (subtracting the 4) on the last month of your two year contract you'd still "owe" $110 to VZN if you left. That's effin nutz. To be any semblance of fair it should be around $15 a month so that the last month of your contract would be your "break even" point.

Anniedroid is right, they do it because they can and they think they're "getting away with it".

They're stupid.

Those that do not learn from the lessons of history are bound to repeat them.

Sprint thought they could stick it to their customers til the cows came home too. And it cost them dearly. There are Still those who avoid Sprint like the plague solely on it's horrible past reputation. VZN won't learn from their lesson any way other than the Hard Way.

I've been with VZN for years but they've lost me and will probably NEVER
get me back.

(I actually have been thinking of coming up with a total crazy insane pie in the sky payment request from them to re-up again just to see if they'll say yes. Say a $480 account credit and a free top shelf 4G phone. That would beat my re-up last go round by a couple hundred dollars. Even if they went for it I wouldn't sign again with them.)

I agree, you can get the nexus and htc evo pretty cheap-- used no contract(of course if you flash it over it won't have 4g), but their not low end phones and do have lots of power behind them. The SG3 is good, but not great(certainly not worth $500 on any carrier with no contract) and I believe if you want a low price high end phone, get an lg motion. The specs are pretty good and it works smoothly. 1.2 Ghz isn't too shabby and it is $350 below the SG3.

The new Nexus that will be unveiled this week.

Galaxy Nexus was initially offered for $400 unlocked on Google play, I am expecting the new one to be the same.
