Is it odd that I don't have the System Update section in my About Phone in Settings?

I just noticed that the System Update section is entirely missing from my "About Phone" in settings. It was there when I was upgrading from ICS, since I spent a lot of time going there to "Check for Update". But now, even after a couple of reboots, it is just gone. Any thoughts?

When you click on Settings and Apps, go to ALL. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and it appears that you have disabled your Google Framework and Services. Enable it and then you should see the System Updates at the top of About Phone.......

Stock now, after a factory reset. I had been on Bugless Beast, but have not rooted again yet.

Are you sure you are on stock? A factory reset will not change your rom back to stock, it will just erase all user and system data, and user apps. It will reset your rom back to its "fresh flash state". SOmeone correct me if I'm wrong.

TO go back to stock you need to flash the factory image. Or you could restore a nandroid, or some other stock flashable, depending on the rom you are coming from.

Oh, wow, I didn't know that. When I did a factory reset, I didn't lose root then? If so, I could easily flash back to a stock ROM. Or, I could just wait until someone has a solid 4.2.2 ROM I want to try. And all this time, I thought I was back to stock!! :0)

Yes, a factory reset will not remove root, at least you wont lose the su binary in /system/xbin, but you might lose the superuser.apk if it is installed as a user app as opposed to being installed in /system/app. Also, if you've installed any other systems apps, say you've modded your camera, or SystemUI, or installed a launcher as a system app, those apps will still be there after a factory reset, with whatever mods to the apks that have been done. Of course, all data associated to them (preferences, settings, etc) will get erased.

AOKP Build 5 is the most solid 4.2.2 rom I've seen. I've never had battery life this good on this phone. Ever.

battery life on AOKP was AMAZING for me... I simply couldn't believe it... :D
