Root Is it ok to Factory Hard Reset after root?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to rooting and have a few questions about Hard Resetting after rooting my Droid 3 using the motofail method.

The only two reasons I wanted to root my device was to use Data Usage Defenders firewall feature and to uninstall as many of the useless Verizon bloatware apps without destabilizing my D3.

Rooting my D3 was easy enough so I was able to use DUD firewall feature. Still haven't gotten to uninstalling any bloatware because I'm nervous about messing things up.

My questions are,
1) If I do a Factory Hard reset will I loose the root?
2) What is the simplest way to remove bloatware?

I did my due diligence to look these questions up but could not find a straight forward answer.

System Version is 5.7.906

TIA

No, you will keep root.

Pete Souza wrote a debloat script for .890. I used it on .906 and it worked for me - though I have seen others report that it does not.

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238472

Follow the directions in that thread - ie, download the 890 script to storage and unzip; install Script Manager; run the debloat script, making sure in Script Manager that SU (root) permissions are selected. It will ask you some questions about what you want to remove, run, and then restart the phone.

That, I think, is the simplest way. There is a companion script that will restore the bloat if you want it back/want to sell to somebody and bring it back to stock.

Thank you for this information. Phone is working better than ever now.
