Is it possible to get service in an non-metro coverage area by any means?

They do have a roaming agreement. It's called Travel Talk I think but it's by the minute and you have to have money in your Metro Connect a account.

OK, I figured that out, you have to go into settings and turn on roaming. And it will say TravelTalk on the screen instead of MetroPCS. And it's $0.19/min. Their site says you can send and recieve txt while roaming, but doesn't say what if anything it costs. Same with data.

you are mixing them up. last november when metro went Nationwide-r they signed an agreement with sprint to use their towers when a metro subscriber is out of the calling area. if you are outside of that area, then yes, its travel talk. $5 bundle, or add money to a metroconnect account.

also when metro is planning on going LTE for all by supposedly signing an agreement with a company called light^2

the have the bundle of 5/month for 30 minutes per month, but also...

text is free anywhere you get a signal...

some areas everything works with no charge...

basically, if you end up on verizon signal then the bundle and/or free texting and .19/minute for voice. no data on verizon.
