Is it possible to set Tasker to limit ALL apps that run?

Hi guys,
I have a phone I am setting up to use GPS and play music. Browse the internet occasionally, but that's it. It's an old phone that I am re-purposing as an in-car media player/GPS, so my actual phone is completely free, and I can use it without interruption, and by using my BT headset without having to worry about music interrupting a call , or navigation instructions(Which I have had happen a few times).

Anyway, as a result, I am trying to extend battery life(Droid RAZR, so I can't buy a new battery), and just reduce the amount of stuff running because I want to. Is it possible to really sort through all of the various apps that run for things like the phone, email, calendar, contacts, all of those little things that kind of burble along in the background, and help the core things like the phone do what it's supposed to?

FWIW, I DID already turn off mobile networks and mobile data in Settings. If that's all I really need to do, then I'm all good.

Thanks!

Turning off mobile networks/data should stop any apps that are trying to connect to the internet (if they're coded correctly, they won't even try to connect unless wifi/mobile data is enabled).

Tasker probably isn't the best bet for preventing other apps from running - I'd recommend either Disabling the unwanted apps or using Greenify to prevent them from automatically starting up in the background (root required).

What version Android is on your RAZR, and is it rooted? Since you are using it as a single-purpose device, you could probably even delete a bunch of the system applications that you don't need - just be sure to check with us first to make sure it's not something critical to the OS. :D

I'm running SlimKAT ROM, and it's rooted, but with the RAZR, (Probably just the Verizon version, I'M sure), it's locked down, so I use SafeStrap as a workaround. It puts the ROM in a boot partition, and you choose which to use as default. Outside of space concerns,m it's an interesting setup. Booting to the system ROM is as easy as booting into recovery, then making a few changes. No need to make a backup and stuff like that. Deleting system devices would be great, as long as I know what to do. Same with a few that came with the ROM, but I don't know how to make that happen, even rootd, I still get that "You can't delete a system app, would you like to hide it instead?" dialog.

Gonna check out Greenify right now, to see what I can do with that for now. Thanks!
