So since I have a Amethyst Grey one sitting on my desk and no idea when the my Champagne one will ship I need some help. Someone fill me in, is it really as purple as it looks in the renders and stuff? I'm soo tempted to open this thing, but I don't want to regret it. Can you really call it grey or is it a purple?

sitting in my home office with the desk lamp (incadescent) it has a purple tint to it. in my work office, it looks grey, almost a brown grey - even french grey, and that is with the flourscent lights and a halogen desk lamp.
Are the images seen in these pictures and videos somewhat accurate? I mean comparable to what it looks like to you?

pic is more purple. i think what you are seeing there is the sky reflect on (obvious window glare in the pics) and is giving it more blue to make it look purple.
How about charging it.

charge it... Mine did the same thing and I left it for an hour and it turned right on. As for the purple tint, yes, it does seem a bit less "metallic" then the picture online make it out to be but I'm actually liking it a lot.

I know right. First world problems.
I thought it'd be able to power on based on the power cord. It turned itself on when I plugged it in which I wasn't expecting. I'm liking the color more and more. The it really just a purple tint in direct light and mostly grey. But that side of the tablet doesn't see that much light anyways. Typing on it right now. I like it.

I wasn't so sure when it arrived if I liked it, but it is very much growing on me and everyone at my office loves the colour!

Nothing wrong with amethist purple, its my favourate colour. Plus ive been hearing its more gunmetal than purple. Then again it all comes down to opinion.

I like it execpt for this BIG GIANT SCRATCH that somehow showed up.
I think the finish is going to be very susceptible to scratches with the vinyl record like groove pattern. The instructions included with the cloth show to wipe in a circular pattern for that very reason.
