Is it safe to use a higher capacity battery?

I have a spare battery but I was thinking about ordering a high capacity battery. Is this safe for the phone? I found a 2080mAh on eBay that is the same size as the original.

Assuming that the battery is decent quality and put together properly, there's no difference between running a 1500 mAh battery and running one with 10,000 mAh capacity. The phone draws what it needs as ir needs it.

There are only 3 problems.

1) The larger the capacity of the battery, the longer it takes to charge.
2) Large batteries are large. That means they take up space in your pocket and they drag your pants down.

3) Not likely, very rare, but possible (And it happened to Sony a few years ago). Poorly made batteries CAN heat up enough to start large fires. I don't mean the kind that burns a hole in your pants, I mean the kind that burns a hole where the factory that made your pants used to be. Lithium reacting with water produced a huge amount of heat and hydrogen gas - 2 things you don't want near each other.

Buying an expensive, well-made large capacity LiIon battery is probably about as safe as buying a large package of chopped beef. But buying large capacity batteries on the cheap could prove to be very expensive. (Not to you - to the battery company after your widow gets through suing them.)

I still stick with 2 normal size batteries, one in the phone, one in a plastic bag in my pocket. Double the life, not much more price and safe.
