Just got an S3 and was wondering if it's worth wasting my time trying to get it to work with Kies on my Apple Mac?

It works on my Macbook Air just fine. I backed up all my contacts, photos etc. No problems. Give it a try!

In addition to schrodinger56's reply, I would recommend trying Helium Back Up.
It's very reliable and works better on my Mac than it does on Windows.

Contacts and other internet related settings, stored with Google. Sms, MSS, and log history, backup-ed with Samsung account. App data of all kind, backed up with Helium
