A memory stick and an SD (secure digital) card are both digital storage devices that can be used to store any digital files (music, movie, pictures, etc) developed by different manufacturers. SD cards were introduced by Panasonic, Toshiba and SanDisk in 1999. Same line of product with smaller size are miniSD and microSD. You'll only see a memory stock slot on Sony products. (camcorder, computer, PSP, sony digital camera, etc.) Memory Stick is also a generic name line the entire line of product such as Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Micro, etc.
