hey fellaz

I just bought a cheap Chinese tablet. since it a off brand and doesnt have a service provider is I basicly already rooted or no?

I would think it would be.

how can i find out?

edited : I just did a lil research which I should of done b4 I posted this but I read that I should see a superuser app in my app list or I need to d/l a app to check. but why wouldn't this tablet not be rooted? what benefits would they gain not rooting it? its not like they would make extra money off me. and i didn't buy it from a service provider. so if its not rooted why not? what would they gain from it?

I dont have wifi at home so I can't download a app to check

thx

Most Chinese cheapies come pre-rooted and for some odd reason the ICS 4.0 versions don't need a superuser app which is weird since I am not sure how they grant it without but I have at least two Guinea pigs, erm, Android tablets work that way

hey fellaz

that's wat the tablets running. ics 4.0.4.

I just used file manager and I can't find a folder any where call bin. ????

can some one tell me where it should be located? I looked through every folder possible

Try installing ES file explorer and try to enable 'root explorer' if it succeeds it is rooted. The built-in file manager does not allow root browsing even if you are rooted

why it is not rooted... maybe for security and safety.

to keep users/owners accidently doing harm to the device..
changing/adding/deleting files or apps that might cause issue or glitches.

and they don't want to be bothered with support... or owners posting online how bad the devices and support is.
