Help Is my Galaxy S bricked?

Plugged into Kies and it said there was an update for firmware so went ahead and followed instructions.

Anyway an error message appeared after it tried to install and now the phone has a black screen with a picture of a phone and a PC and a yellow triangle.

Never messed with the phone before, phone is from the carphone warehouse and was sim free when I got it few months ago, will they fix it for free?

They should be able to fix it for free as long as its not rooted.

If he can't get into recovery/download mode using the 3 button combo, this error means the phone is a S-Amoled paperweight and has to be sent back for fixing.

If you have the 3 button combo working, you can try to flash another firmware using Odin, which might fix your phone. On the other hand if you don't want to mess with that, just return it and have it fixed, warranty should cover that.
