Both worked perfectly until this past Tuesday, and I've had 9033 since January.

Things can change. Ive had a prl work for me perfectly only to start getting bad signals after months. Try the actual prls for the motion

I had a similar problem back when I first got my motion.
It would only have 1x or 3G connection but never 4g.
Seeing as I live in a pretty urban setting (NYC) and that metro advertises my area has like amazing 4G coverage I just contacted Metro's costumer support (the chat support... you'll understand why).
Apparently when I set up my phone with that obligatory call to metro's support - the dude I was talking to seemed to be talking a foreign language most of the time and didn't quite get my SIM-card ID correctly so they never bothered even telling me and I was left with a phone that couldn't connect to 4g.
In the chat all I did was just tell the representative just that, and told her my SIM ID and she was able to activate my phone's 4G.

or start a chat with metro's costumer service. (I hate dealing with them via phone call - they just make me wait and don't seem to get anything done, via chat it took me 2 minutes and they fixed everything).
