I wonder if my ram usage is normal. I currently have 387 / 784MB. It occupies more than 50% even though I don't have any active application running. Why is that? What do you have?

Android is Linux, and in Linux unused ram is wasted ram. The system will use unused ram to cache other apps so they open faster when you need them, the used vs unused amounts change now and then even when you're not using the system. Android is hard coded to kill other apps when more memory is needed. You don't have to worry about used/unused ram because android does a good job of managing it. I explain this a bit more in this thread.
