Is pain knowledge?

From the brilliant words of Mas Oyama... "Pain is Knowledge".

Over the years I have tried so hard to understand this crazy world.

I have been booked in to a "semi asylum". Attempted suicide quite a few times. I have grown up in a messed up society and... yet I still feel like I don't know jack shit.

But something got me thinking... wondering... deeply wondering... do you believe that pain is knowledge?

Does pain enrich one's understanding of life or can it sadly push some over the edge?

Is pain knowledge or if in excess - just destructive?

What if it can give an alternative kind of knowledge that's hard to read or (truly) comprehend in books and other literature?

I was just wondering here to myself... let me know your opinions please :)

pain = lesson learned = knowledge

it is how you take it.. and what you do with it

if a child touches a hot pot... instant pain... now that child will know cooking pots are hot .. and not to touch things like this in the future ... Knowledge!

What kind of pain? Physical? Emotional?

And btw I don't agree with the meme slogan. Painful knowledge is not always better than blissful ignorance.

That's a darn good response! :D

Thanks everybody too for your replies :)

Well all sorts of pain I guess but I sometimes wonder if it's true.

I heard of a story the other day about a man who only very recently had discovered that his son was not his son and instead of "rocking the boat" he just decided to not "upset the apple cart" and just be happy with everything as it was.

Absolutely scary how he had lived his whole life being lied to by his wife. Insanely disgusting.

I think there are lots of different kinds of pain so I guess all of the above.

I don't know if I would kill my wife or what I would do if I found that out.

But I don't even want to have a wife - I am too smart for that.

So it just got me thinking... it's such a disgusting world this.

If I ever become (extremely) rich and successful - I think I will want to have a virus engineered so I can kill the whole of humanity because it is just so disgusting.

I don't know if there is any knowledge in that kind of pain... it's so extreme I don't even know what to say.

I will say this though... that man must be extremely strong though... tough as hell I will give him that.

1. your friend... could most likely.. loves the child that he helped raise... so he dont want to hurt the child.

2. it was a long time ago.. and maybe based on her actions of love and devotion since the mistake.. he has chosen to forgive her. (just a guess) (not sure if I could forgive her)

3. Physical pain or emotional... i stand by my earlier response. depending on the amount and type... this may break some. i think in most cases.. it makes you stronger and wiser!

4. Virus.. i am 99.99% sure.. it has been already created and stored in some government lab.

That is so true! :)

Some knowledge is super awesome that it is like a drug!

I get addicted to knowledge... In fact the other day i had a vision of me kneeling in front of a super brilliantly designed plane and i was proposing to the plane!

I was basically maryying the plane instead of women and saying how relationships can just back stab and betray you and **** up ones life...

Basically saying fall in love with knowledge. :D

I think what is painful is ugly people!

Its also a great thought of how machines cannot betray us :)
