Root Is screen locking resolved in rom v008?

Hi guys,

Sorry for posting this as a new thread, but I figure more people will respond this way.

I haven't seen the screen locking issue pop up in the last few revisions of my rom. I thought perhaps I was just being really lucky, but recently shutdo posted in the main forum that he's seen the issue disappear as well while using my rom (v008).

I'm wondering, for anyone else using this rom, have you still been experiencing the screen locking issue? And if so, what version of my rom are you running? I have a theory as to what fixed it, if it's even fixed, but I'm not sure.

Since I started running V008 I have not experienced the screen lock. I am having FC's at boot time when set to 710th MHz but stable at 672 MHz. Could you please test if you are able to adapt Nuance Voice Control with your ROM as I get FC whenever I try to adapt voice.

Well, not locking up anymore is a good thing We now have three data points.

Actually, I just went to the apps menu and opened the Voice Control app with the Nuance icon. First time I've done that. It opened, told me to say a command. The recognition sucks, but it certainly runs and works.

Did you do a system wipe when you installed the rom? Can you go to the recovery partition, (make a nandroid backup of everything you can), then choose system wipe... wipe everything you can (wiping sd-ext will probably not work unless you're using apps2sd). Reboot. The phone will be slow rebooting. Try running nuance.

It's kind of annoying to do this, as you'll need to reinstall some apps, and reconfigure settings, redo voice training, etc., but it would eliminate a possible source of error. If nothing changes, simply restore your nandroid backup and pretend like nothing happened.

What I would like to know is when you press Menu Settings Adapt Start and try to say the first training sentence "Call Melisa Jordan at home" does it accept this or just FC as it does when I try to train it?

stayed in v006 cause of lack of time... the screen locking remained in that rom... I'll upgrade now and reply to you soon

For me, I haven't got the screen lock issue since I flashed v007, and now v008 while my cpu clock is always above 700MHz, I'm currently running it at 844MHz, very stable during normal operations. Thanks Jiilik!

v007 still had it happen on girlfriend's phone. Will flash 008 tonight if possible because her phone craps out completely (FC on reboot) after it happens. We're starting to hate the phone alot.

Nuance didn't FC for me and I went through the entire process. Is your app on system/app or data/app?

I noticed Nuance FC's when moved back and forth between both locations. I did notice the reason for that is because there are some files in /system/etc/nuance which are most likely linked to the ROM itself. I'd love to decompile it and see, but I'm lacking time to do so.

By the way, don't know if any of you had fun with the UOT kitchen yet, but if you want to theme your framework-res and systemui, it works perfectly. I'll post a thread with a how to if you guys want a guide on how to do it.

Small update: Here are the nuance files from v10d if anyone wants to play around with them. (No it's not a flashable zip, just pulled the files from my stock folder... Sorry!) just copy files to their respective folders (system/app and system/etc/nuance), chmod 644 the files and reboot.

I made the theme for my girlfriend, no theming necessary for me. hehe. I posted the theme in another thread in the all things root section... Thanks!
