Is the cost going to drive customers away?

Huawei is the King of mobile in China, their smartphones were already overpriced.

You pay the price of a notebook for it but you don't get a real SSD and a comfortable keyboard.

Holy whack, rumor'd at $1300 for the Pro version knocks me WAY out!

I can't imagine it being even remotely close to what I'm willing to pay after reading that.
The available now, standard Huawei Mate 9 is a whopping ¥9999 yuan CNY, convert that into $ USD if you want. FYI a top of the range iPhone 7 Plus 256GB is ¥7988 in China.

The Pro version isn't available until early next year apparently.

Excuse my ignorance, is everything expensive over there i.e. cost of living? My Mate is on the way for £599 which compared to the Note 7 at £699 seems OK to me.
