I think most of the problem is the shadow that is cast from direct flash photography and zoomed in making the bump look larger than it really is. I suspect when you see it in natural lighting at arms length it will look perfectly normal. I remember watching something on tv and the audience was arguing over 2 pictures and whether or not the person in the picture had a nose job. One group was convinced she did because the nose looked so different but the other didn't think so. I looked at it and to me with the photographer's eye right off the bat knew the 2 pictures were the same because the 1st one had a shadow cast at an angle making the nose look different. Shadows play lots of tricks to your eyes.

I personally hate the fact that Google/Huawei decided to go with the same physical size on the phone, but made the phone smaller.

Aka.... I hate the amount of bezel on the top and bottom.

Meh. It copied the little plastic lines from the iPhone just like Samsung, which is disgusting. I never liked those annoying stripes. The black bar isn't very attractive. I like the look of Samsung's devices better.

I think the black bar is not "ideal" but I ordered the phone either way because I think it tops the charts in the most important areas like processor, screen, software etc. I personally think most manufacturers are missing the boat on customization or at a minimum, giving the customer aggressive color choice. So boring is still the norm.

I started realizing the "hump" on the 6P is a "throwback" to the Galaxy Nexus, where the bottom of the phone had a "hump" (just no glass) where the rear speaker was located.

I think the phone is gorgeous! The design is brilliant, not an iPhone clone. Kudos to Huawei and Google. Of course, now that my phone is inside my Google case, the black bar is not even seen.

But isn't that bezel necessary to house the dual stero speakers?

Probably more accurate to say the bezel is necessary because of the speakers and to keep the phone very thin. Others will point out that the Moto X Pure has similar speakers but smaller bezels but the phone is thicker (.29" compared to .44").

I don't have a problem with the form, as long as it functions well. It would have to have a case on it, so the edge of that bump isn't scratched up, but I would have a case (nothing bulky like an otterbox) on any phone anyway.
I got a candy spec grip and it is fantastic.

I think it's actually a pretty cool way of hiding the sensors (yeah there's the laser sensor, as well as the expected camera lens, and (dual) flash. Maybe there's even more in there. And at least it doesn't rock on it like a central bump leads to. Also once it's in a slim case there's almost no bump discernible. I got the white one and see it as a cool identifying feature :)

I don't understand the camera bump issue a whole 1/16" issue! as to its size well I came from a note 3 is same size a perfect fit.
now for some reason I expected the phone to be narrower than the note 3 I think because they say its not as wide as the nexus6?
