Is the Nexus One a good choice?

Once you upgrade to Froyo 2.2 on the Google Nexus One (ATT 3G Version) works perfectly overall...I highly recommend it.

I bought a Nexus one direct from google as soon as they became available for rogers/at&t. I bought it with a bedside dock, and an extra battery for $609 CDN or something like that. It showed up after 3 days, via DHL (soooooo much better than UPS or fedex, only $18 brokerage, as opposed to the $125 UPS charged me for duty and brokerage when i got a $500 package).

What part of Canada are you from...not from Ontario if you only had to pay $18 brokerage and tariff fees. DHL delivered mine and I had to pay $87

I'm in ottawa. I paid the same bs charge as well Roze. Needless to say i felt the same way you did.

Nexus One with Froyo 2.2 here. I don't get all the battery hate; I can have moderate usage (on and off of Wifi, looking up websites, maps [with GPS on], checking/composing emails and texts all day, and a few phone calls) and the phone will last me two full days without charging. Last time I let it go that long, the second day, just before I went to bed and charged it, it gave me the "Low battery" warning (15%). So, battery life is great (and far, far better than my aging G1).

The 2.2 update has brought Flash content to the phone, and I'll say this: once you have Flash on your mobile device, you will never go back. The one annoying thing is that a lot of sites try to force you to their crippled "mobile" version, and now that I have Flash, I want to go to the real version of the site!!

The Wifi hotspot feature works great (it hasn't been locked down by T-mobile and I don't think it will be), I hooked up two laptops and someone's iPhone (and they ran Facetime on it, sharing my 3G with two other devices, ha ha!) to it and it worked just fine. USB tethering is also useful.

Other little tweaks like the gallery previews and such make it a better experience.

And, best of all, you'll be first in line for all future updates (until Google releases it's own phone again in the future, which may or may not ever happen).

Completely satisfied.

I'm sure your aware but did you try changing the settings in your browser? I'm not sure on the stock browser but in Dolphin HD, you can go to settings>User Agent>Desktop. In the xScope browser settings>Web Page>User Agent>Computer.

With the settings set that way, you'll be enjoying the same web pages as your desktop PC/Mac, albeit in a much smaller screen:D

Wow I never guessed I would get so many responses!! It's come down to 2 phones for me.... the Nexus One or the Samsung Galaxy S( don't know if it will work on Rogers...). Anybody used both these phones?

DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG.. that's my only advice to you.. it's a great phone.. that will probably be terribly supported as Samsung is known for not doing upgrades at all.. we will see. I had a sammy phone.. great phone.. terrible support.

I have a N1 and I've never been sorry that I bought it. The xpandability of this phone is crazy.. it has everything you want, if you're missing something people hacking the phone will bring it too you :D

I think N1 is the best phone for geeks like me...
