Is there a 'Best' Qi Wireless Charger?

I happened on a 2014 thread about all sorts of problems people were having with wireless charging- charge indicators going crazy, stumped Verizon techs & visits to their store to exchange units, etc.

Assuming all these bugs have been sorted out, is there a particular charger that works best for the Turbo?
Or, a reliable one that is dirt cheap?:confused:

One of the problems I didn't quite understand involved charging with the display on versus off; is this because the phone is being used while charging, like on a TYlt-type sloped charger?
 
I think the issue was that people wanted to charge with the device off rather than just the display off. You cannot do that with a Turbo - if the device is off when you place it on the charger, it will power on. This is likely because the charge is managed by an internal system app that requires power. I believe people wanted to be able to charge with the power off (as you can with a wired charger, and you can with other qi charging phones) in order to maximize the charge rate - the phone charges more slowly when it is actually running.
 
I use the Tylt Vu charger. Not cheap, Very good, I got it with a double discount a while back and it cost me about $26. This was a5 great price.

I like that it holds my phone a t a 45 degree angle next to my workstation.

"best charger for Turbo" ... good luck with that.

The Tylt Vu is priced at $50 on Tylt's web site right now, but $30 on amazon.com (for prime members), and $30 at bestbuy.com. It's definitely worth it at that price.

Like Thom, I bought both of mine at half price at their Black Friday sale, two years in a row, though I had to wait for months to receive it both times.
 
Guys, I had another other question I should have really included earlier-

I have a 64 gig Kingston MicroDuo 3.0 flashdrive; it flips between a standard USB & a micro USB connector as needed. (I got it for my Raspberry Pi timelapse experiments. It was insanely cheap- here is the Malwarts 32 G version SKU : 554516119 for $11.95)

It is formatted as FAT32 and holds a bunch of media, some of it from Youtube.

Before I plug it in to my new Droid USB socket, is there any chance of frying something? It scans clean for viruses & such, just wondering about how File Manager would see it or is another app needed. (Remember I can't root on this Turbo).

This's getting fun!:D
 
Sounds like it is designed as an OTG memory drive. It may get very warm, almost hot to touch under heavy file actions. Great way to back up Turbo content.
 
Not a slogan. OTG is a flashdrive, but designed to be used as a go-between android and laptop. There's likely to be some kind of simplified, standard protocols involved. Necessity being the mother of invention, the lack of a removable sd card, data useage backing up on-network, slow bluetooth, needing to carry a cord, all prompted this 'customized', high-capacity flash drive.
 
Ah, well that adds a bit of confusion to the buying scenario. At malwarts.com, Kingston Duo are available in both 2.0 and 3.0 as well as various sizes, but at least some the listings for them at Bbuy do not contain the OTG description, but are called 3.1; and the little chicklet cap show up in 3 colors- clear, silver and black. Just fyi for any other reader, the one I have is Kingston with a black casing and is incised on the Standard USB end 64GB DT microDuo 3.0 (it fits & works as 2.0 also).
 
Hey Thom- just fyi my Tylt-Vu arrived today. So far I like it a lot- it is very easy to use the droid one handed, and it works thru the case. I'm curious why it has such a large wallwart, which blocks any sockets on either side of it.

Do you leave your Tylt-Vu plugged in all the time, or unplug it after charging up?
