Is there a Compass App that works?!

Is there something that I, maybe, don't understand about these Compass Apps?

I've tried many.

Firstly, they don't appear to point North.

Secondly, if you spin around, the pointer does not stay pointing to North (where it was pointing originally, which was wrong anyway!)

I've checked this against a normal compass, by the way.

Have you tried the figure of eight calibration? You can find demo videos on Youtube. It's the same issue for all phones.

That's the best tip I've had for a long time.

Watching this video on YouTube, finally explains the method of calibration.
Never really understood what this figure of 8 calibration actually meant.
