Root Is there a kitkat rom available?

Pretty sure it would run it (less demanding system-wise)... Just not sure how active the dev community is now - remember looking (without any luck) not all that long ago for a JB for someone.

I haven't looked, but the dhd gang are a devoted bunch. I'd be pretty surprised if there are no 4.4 roms. Check out xda and let us know what you find. I'll prolly have a look for myself later :)

just installed kitkat thanks to you guys, ill see how it goes over the next few days. was needing to breathe a little life into the phone. changing to this may have saved me buying another phone......again :-)

thanks a lot

ok, quick review it is :-)

couple of days in and i prefer it to jellytime, altho im not sure why, could just be cos its different. battery life is decent, around the same as jellytime, altho i notice 'mobile standby' and 'phone idle' to be a fair percentage of battery use. screen is main user. any ideas how to improve those, or is it dependant on signal in the area?

the only gripe ive got so far is when i use the internet, (either dolphin mini or the browser app), when i scroll down a page, most of it is blurry for a second or two, then sharpens focus to normal. this never happened on jellytime.
anyone got any idea why this should be?

ill report back with anything else i come across, good or bad.

still liking it a lot, altho im not a big phone user so theres probbly a fair bit of stuff i dont use cos i dont know about it.
one puzzling thing tho........ im really impressed with how little battery it uses when not in use, but...... twice now ive gone to use it and its been dead around teatime. booted up and 0% so had to recharge. most days tho its still on around 40 or 50% at bedtime when i recharge. i dont know why it would have died so quickly those two times, its baffling. i dont have anything on sync but facebook messages come through as notifications, so im not sure if thats syncing all the time. but then again itd do that every day if so.

baffled by it and dont know how to look into it any further as it doesnt give warning of being about to die so i cant check battery use.
