Ok so my rooted LG optimus one is a great phone, however I'm having one problem that maybe a android pro can help me with...

So this is whats happening:

( Please note: this is only when I'm using 3g internet from my phone provider, "NOT WIFI" )

Stuff like Skype, Msn work great on this phone, but when my phone screen Times out ( Goes Dark ) my msn and skype go offline in tell I make the screen lit up again...

* is there away to keep these apps on 24/7 ? on the 3g network?


- if I go into the screen settings and change the screen timeout to 30 minutes my skype and msn stays online for that 30 minutes, even longer if I tap on the screen to extending the time...

- if I change that screen setting to 10 seconds to timeout, everything is disconnected about 2 minutes into screen timeout...


What are my options because I do not want to keep my screen on 24/7 just to keep the apps online...

So as a test I plugged the phone in to charge... I noticed that everything stayed online with the screen off when its plugged in....

so there must be something telling the apps to go offline when its on battery power?

still need help...

i seem to have found something to keep my 3g awake ...

just in case someone has this same problem... heres what I did...

I installed imo instant messenger from the android market, it has a future built into it called: WAKE_LOCK: very short term partial cpu lock to make sure messages are sent and received while phone is sleeping.

so far my phone stays awake in sleep mode, but will have to see how much of a toll it will be on battery... so far so good, skype has stayed active in sleep for almost 1hr now...
