Is there a Tethering App that....

works with Verizon? I recently upgraded my Verizon Motorola Droid 2 to a Motorola Moto X. My Droid 2 phone was under the unlimited data program. Upgrading to the Moto X required me going to a limited data plan. The FoxFi tether app worked on the Droid 2 although I haven't tried that in a few months. After upgrading to the Moto X I tested the FoxFi app and it didn't work. It tells me to contact my carrier. I tried another tether app and it does the same thing. I'm assuming Verizon has blocked the capability to use tether for free access to their connection? Is there a tether app that does work with Verizon? Thank you

With the S4 if you go to Settings/Connections/More Networks, there is an option for tethering that works with Verizon limited plans, and a Mobile Hotspot option. I'm not sure what of that is Samsung and what is Android, but no app is required.

Edit: Valorian's post made me realize I'm on a Shared Everything limited plan.

When I attempt to use the Verizon tether option on my Moto x phone it says checking subscription then "your order could not be processed" with an 800# to call Verizon. Verizon tech mgr says they have no "block" on my acct and must be problem at my end.

Which plan do you have? Did you switch to Verizon's Share Everything plan? I believe you will get this message if you don't either have the Share Everything plan or tethering added to your account.
I have Verizon's Share everything plan and I can use the hotspot feature fine with my Nexus 7.

Verizon says the package I have does not come w/free tethering. My Droid 2 let me get around this restriction but not the Moto X. Case closed.

The last time this issue came up I dug up a news article that the FCC and Verizon agreed (or maybe the FCC ruled) that Verizon couldn't limit tethering with 4G. I wonder if that agreement had some sort of time or device limitation, such that you were grandfathered with your D2? Whatever it is, Verizon's current position seems inconsistent with that prior agreement.
