Help Is there a thread for...

Maybe after updating firmware but other than that never. Android sorts all that stuff out itself so there's no real need. If you delete cache then it just gets recreated the next time you use your apps anyway so you might as well just leave it.

i always reboot my phone or tablet at least once a wekk to clear out cache. it does not hurt and i have never had any issues.
You're a window$ user, am I right? ;)

You see, in the Linux world we don't reboot. Ever.* There are UNIX/Linux computers with uptimes in years...and years. One of my desktop computers would have a 13 year uptime (how long it's been in this house) if not for power outages.

Android, being a Linux, really shouldn't need regular rebooting. My old phone, which I still use daily, has an uptime of 81 days. It would be longer than that if not for its bad battery, which randomly goes to 0% and the phone shuts down.

*We reboot for rare, specific reasons, such as installing hardware--we power down so neither we nor our computers suffer electrical damage. :o

My Pixel doesn't even have an option to clear the cache, so I've not done it since October 2017. It doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

(I reboot once per month, when I apply this month's system update. That's it).

This did make me chuckle being an old school windows user. Damn with Win 95 you had to reinstall it every 6 months otherwise it was like dragging a dead corpse behind you whenever you tried running something! :D

Odd thing tho, a few updates back Samsung decided to tweak their app monitor system so that when ever a non samsung app was hogging resources it would prompt you as such and suggest you reboot your phone!! WTH..
