Root is there a way to change the existing battery icon?

I am running a rooted droid x- no theme. with the latest update.

I hate that I have to have 2 icons in my status bar - one w the stock battery icon, and one that shows a numeric value on the left side.

Is there a way to just change the existing icon to one that has a numeric value associated with it?

Try Droidpirate.com I have used some of their icons and notifications. They work well. I am rooted running 928 Blackglass

Ok guys. Total noob trying to learn the ropes of rooting, etc my Droid X which I just got two days ago. I got this phone after my first one bought a week and a half ago bugged out. I'm running system version 2.3.340 droid version 2.2.1 with Kernel 2.6.32.9 (not sure what a kernel is yet) rooted with z4root. On my last phone I had no problem deleting those pesky apps (blockbuster (who in the HELL wants that on their phone) amazon etc.). Now with this phone doing the same thing I can't touch anything. It tells me they're a "read only" prog. and I can't rename the extension to drop them out. Additionally my adfree, and titanium backup (which I installed after I couldn't get anything to change with "Root Explorer") can't get supper user permissions. Any ideas what tha flyin poo I'm doing wrong? Could there be a new software update which my last phone didn't have or... ... "???"

Many thanks!
Signed,
NOOB!

I don't see the recovery part in that manual? Should I just run Titanium Backup?

I guess I meant the backup part. I guess just use Titanium Backup?

Titanium is a good file backup/restore, but it's not going to bring you back from a boot-loop or restore you back to your original setup so you can get the next OTA update.

Download Droid X Recovery Bootstrap from Market ($2).

Open Recovery, tap the top button. It should say "success", meaning it's ready to go. IF you press the bottom button, it will go into the recovery, where your volume keys navigate the cursor up/down and the camera button is your "OK" button. Your 3rd button on the bottom of your phone is your "back" button.

Download Rom Manager from Market. This is an easier way of backup up your phone, but it still requires a working Recovery to operate. It also can install Roms you've downloaded. To back up your phone, open Rom Manager, choose "Backup Current Rom", then edit the name to give it something that means something to you, but do not use spaces. This is an old pic, but it gives you an idea of how I name my backups.

You could name it by rom type like, "Apex_no-theme_12_16_2010".

Make sure you have a backup of your stock, no-rom, no-theme, no apps removed setup, so you can get the next OTA update.

You can never have enough backups!
