Help Is there a way to get my HTC Incredible to work with straight talk?

Hey guys I'm new on here and I'm at a lost on what to do and I need some help. I bought a HTC Incredible on ebay thinking that it took a sim card and was going to work with my straight talk plan but I got it in the mail today only to find out it doesn't even have a place to put a sim card:mad: so I've been on the search all day on ways that I could get it to work and I've heard of being able to "flash" my phone or being able to unlock it to use straight talk and I know it's possible because there's people who have gotten it to work.

I just want to know if there's a website I can go to do it myself or if there's is somebody I can send my phone to for them to do it for me or what.... I just need help in what to do! :( Because if i don't figure it out I'm going to have to return my phone and I only have a limited time do that. Please help!:hmmmm2:

Thank you!

The only methods I'm finding online look very suspect and potentially illegal. If you can return the phone, I'd recommend it. Be sure to get one that takes a T-Mobile or ATT SIM card. Will make the process much easier.

Incredible is a CDMA phone, 3G phones with sim cards are GSM - those are radio standards as different as AM and FM.

I know at one time, Straight Talk supported both, but I don't know if they still do. If Straight Talk is GSM only, forget it.

Getting CDMA phones to work on other networks requires changing some identification numbers that don't change with a rom or operating system update - think of these numbers like the VIN number on a car.

Sometimes that carrier transfer may require changing values that are said to be illegal to do, while others say a complex identity transfer process may be legal.

AndroidForums.com staff can't advise on anything that openly violates the law or your carrier's terms of service, nor can we act as your legal counsel.

According to this vendor, they can assist in navigating those waters legally -

Flash CDMA Cell Phone : Flash Cell Phone to Cricket, Alltel, Verizon Sprint

You may wish to chat with them. We are not affiliated with them in any way, and this is not an endorsement, merely a possible suggestion.

There is a change in copyright protection exemptions that went into effect on January 26, 2013, and some reports indicate that some dealers of those services are being targeted by the legal arms of various carriers where violations are occurring.

If you go for another phone, with changes in the laws, beware of people selling you phones telling you that unlocking is easy because Mr. Google says it is, check here, someone will be happy to help! :)

Thanks for all the help guys :) I have decided to return the phone because it just seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth and I'm deffentily not trying to get me or anyone elese in legal trouble!

So with that said what's a good phone suggestion that won't break my bank and be comparable to the incredible or any phone that's fast and has a 8 megapixel camera like the incredible?

Thanks!
