scientific calculators? This would really help me out in my College Algebra class when I'm solving some of the more difficult problems, plus at the testing center I gfet unlimited time due to my being a special needs student cuz of my Asperger's, and they don't take my phone from me.

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

They don't take away your phone, but they do apparently take away scientific calculators? You are asking for help cheating? Sorry bud, just learn the algebra.

I think he said they dont take his phone due to his Asperger's Disease, no mention of a scientific calc...

Anyways, aldent8807, if you use the search feature of these forums, you'll find a lot of threads about scientific calculators.

Here's one:

Wouldn't it be easier to check the market?

Don't have my Evo yet, getting it tomorrow, then finishing up some COSC1400 homework and immediately rooting, and this is my switch over from an iCrap. First Android phone. And fiance is waiting on her first Android phone too, the Evo Shift. ^-^

Anyway, test is Wednesday, and yeah, it isn't cheating to me, just professors being dicks. Reeason I say so is we're forced to log hours of Algebra homework time at this on-campus place called "Success Connection." Must have 30 hours logged by semesters end, and our campus is "calculator free".

See? Bastards(professors)

What does Asperger's have to do with not taking the phone away? It just means that he doesn't have to be in the same testing room at the other students, without supervision apparently, so he can get away with cheating.

No mention of a phone not being taken due to a disease. However there was the obvious point that he wants to buy a $200 phone rather than a $20 calc... meaning that the calcs cannot be used. Though he eventually clarified that.

I mean, he's so lazy that he's not even going to run his own market search, let alone learn the math himself. Justify it however you like, you guys are helping him screw over other students if they are on a competitive curve. I'm not.

Yeah seems you were right but you had kinda jumped to that conclusion. The first post didnt really indicate what you were saying. Sounded like you were flying off the handle, but turns out you were right. Mea culpa.

Either way, we have yet another thread about calculators that we can point the next newb to! :)

We're not on a competitive curve, and frankly, all I care about is passing the class. And I'm not buying the phone for the calc.... I'm buying cuz I was getting sick of dealing with the fail that iPhone is, and I'd been doing research on Evo and decided I liked it.

Also new to this site and these forums, had no idea where to go or how to find a Market search.

And I'm in the same testing room, but they stick us in these clostrephobic(sp?) little cubicles for testing.

And plenty of supervision by the way, they just forget about me cuz I take the one in the corner by the wall between 2 others so they never see or hear me until I get up.

If you're trying to get away with cheating, I seriously would recommend you don't. You're only hurting yourself by not learning the material.

I use handycalc for my calculation needs. If you're not allowed to use a calculator on tests DON'T do it then. It doesn't matter if it's on a phone, a computer, a pencil, or a calculator. It's the same thing.

the ti-83 was renamed to andy-83. There are also andy-85, andy-86 available. Seriously an awesome program.

Still waiting for the ti-83 plus or ti-89 app. I wanna get my integrals and 3D mapping on.

Do those calculators cost $20 now??? Dammit!! When I was in school they cost $100 to $150 and they made us step up to the next model for each frikkin new calculus class.

But, maybe things have changed since the stone age when I was in school, lol.

Yeah, I went back to school a few years ago. Plain scientific calcs are pretty cheap now. But graphing calcs are a whole different story.

who cares if he is "cheating" people? but of uptight people around here, its not your life, let him do what he wants. I bet all you criticizing him are the same people that hate on Charlie Sheen too.
