Is there an iTunes for Android?

The Best one I've found is http://www.salling.com/MediaSync/windows/
MUCH better than DoubleTwist. I hated DT because it never found all my music or playlists, and when it did sync it would only sync part of what I wanted.
Salling works for windows and mac and that's all it is, a sync. You don't have to download a big slow program.

Not to sound like a stick in the mud, but the OP did ask for legal ways to get music and while this does sound like a great way to go about getting music. I, for one, would have to question the legality of such a method.
Which method? There were several mentioned in this thread prior to your post and at least 2 were legal. I didn't really want to read the long post about the 3rd that I ran across.

Hi

From where can I download music, legally, and then play it on my Android phone? To be clear, I'm not wanting to use a subscription service like Spotify.

Amazon mp3 is available on your Droid, you can also transfer iTunes bought music to it (by removing DRM account license and convert format to mp3 with a 3rd party application if they are protected .m4p), BTW, this method also applies to iTunes DRM'ed .m4v video and Amazon Video on Demand protected .wmv movie.

Good Day!

Keep using iTunes to buy music, and then use doubleTwist to sync that music to your Android phone.

Works like a charm :-)

Just a reminder that there are some folks who can't stand iTunes and who don't use it to buy music but use third party apps instead. ;-)

I just buy digital music & movie files from iTunes and Amazon, then use a 3rd party ** LINK REMOVED BY MOD ** to strip license protection, convert format and make copy or burn to DVD, persoally I think it is an unnecessary pain to computer ti install a iTunes similar syncing program, USB cable and SD card is enough!

Very very helpful information about it but I like Amazon MP3 store much better than itunes. Cause the music comes as a straight MP3 which can play on anything.

I'm going to offer up Dazzboard as a method of transferring music you already have to your phone. It's a great program for syncing all media files up to your phone.

Can't offer up any methods of downloading new music though - sorry!

After getting sick of dying iPods and the Zune marketplace that is what I started using. DRM free and good quality :)
I used to use the Zune Marketplace as well. It's not all DRM free though :( I ended up switching to Amazon's MP3 download store.

No one using imusic?
You have to weed through a bit.. but the mp3's are free.
Yep iMusic is definetely the best and easiest way to get music on my HTC Droid Eris. You just have to delete every song you download after listening to it *wink*. It also allows streaming which comes in handy.

What? I didn't read that in the fine print?
But I didn't have my reading glasses either...... humm.... oh well....

I'm going to stick my head back in the sand now!

were not looking for away to download music onto the phone,
we want to be able to sync our music collections that we already have and put it on the phone via syncing.
imusic might be a way to get a track (although it is illegal to keep it) but it is no replacement to be able to transfer our own music collections.

It is an insult to Android phones to use iTunes as a means of obtaining music. Apple needs to burn to the ground.

everyone is against itunes but mp4 files work on droid. if you've been using iTunes for your music collecting habits, keep using it as they work with droid. Now if you want to ditch iTunes, you can always try Amazon's MP3 downloads. I started using Amazon because they almost always have the cd cheaper than iTunes. I got the Sick Puppies - Tripolar album off iTunes for $10, next day i saw on amazon that it was like $7.

Well I don't know about you but I don't like to pay for the music I already own. So I am using Jam11 to stream my iTunes music to my Android phone. Give it a try and check for yourself
