is there going to be a software update?

So I have the Samsung Galaxy light for metro PCs and I was wondering if we are going to receive the lollipop update?

Also is there any working Roms for this phone and maybe a video with how to do it?

Thanks .

I thought I saw on a Samsung post that our Light would receive Lollipop in Q2 (second quarter). I'll see if I can find the picture. I sure hope we get lollipop. I love Samsung but wish they'd support the people like us who don't/can't pay $500+ for a phone

Well the second quarter of the year ends in june so if we don't get an update by the end of june than we most likely won't get an update at all.

I agree on that. 5.0 would run nicely on our phone. 4.4.2 has been good and I haven't experienced apps crashes or too much lag. I just wish we could get this one last update to 5.0 though :) we'll see!

Us T-Mobile owners are still stuck on 4.2.2 JB. Honestly, the only thing that has kept me from ditching this phone for an Avant is the size. For my purposes (home internet mule, back-up phone), the small size of the Light is ideal, since it carries well in the same pocket as my OnePlus One. If band 12 ever comes to Tucson though...

I'm the same way when it comes to phones. I prefer smaller phones. It's why I bought the light in the first place. The bigger phones are nice and all for games and watching vids but if I could get a phone that's about the size of the light with the specs of like the s5 I'd be a happy camper.

You're still on JB?? Dang, Metro is actually ahead for once??
As for the size and specs of this phone I agree with kage beast. The bigger phones are definitely nice for games and what not but for my everyday phone this size suites me perfect. I wouldn't mind a bump in specs on this phone though ;)
I mentioned our phone on a different thread regarding rooting and I guess I may take that route if it doesn't get official lollipop. I'd like to wait and see first though...

My friends...i moved on from the Light and upgraded to the G4. The guy i sold it to was a hardcore nerd who had plans to root, flash and customize. Who knows...his work might end up on here!!!

So apparently there's a software update but I can't get it since it says my phone has been modified in an unauthorized way. I unrooted my phone and I get the same msg. Updating through kies is not an option because I don't have a computer. So what should I do?

I hope this is true. I'm backing up my data and going back to pure stock to check and see. Also simply unrooting doesn't do anything. Your phone will still be detected as custom. There's nothing you can do without a computer.

Edit: Well there's definitely no software update. Why do you think there's one?

Yea I unrooted my phone only to be disappointed that the same error msg came up. And it showed there was an update but maybe it was just some sort of glitch. Is yours a metro pcs branded phone?

Yup it is. I checked kies and tried clicking software update a few times but nothing so idk.

I got the update as well. After it applied, my battery life got terrible (I was getting through a full day on 1 charge before the update, dropped in half after (needed a charge around 2 in the afternoon) I did a factory reset, and now I'm getting crazy good battery life (it's been a few days since the reset) I've been around 50-60% battery life by the end of the day. I'm slowly adding apps back to see if any kill my battery, but I've got most of my "essentials" back, and battery is still going strong.

So are there any noticeable changes with the update? My light is rooted so I didn't even know there was an update.

Other than my battery life improving significantly, I don't think I've noticed much else. I was getting a fair amount of apps not responding prior to the upgrade that seem to have stopped now (although I am guessing the factory reset has as much or more to do with that than the update) I've pretty much got all my apps reinstalled now, and my battery life is still incredibly good (I can go almost 2 full days of my normal usage on 1 charge) Pretty much double what it was pre update.
