I doubt it, Android is designed to use memory, and free it up automatically when another program needs it. It's not a bad thing to see your memory full, that means Android is doing its job. I generally recommend against using task killers.
On the other hand, you could have a poorly-coded app installed somewhere that could be taking excessive amounts of memory.
This page from lifehacker is a fairly good read on memory and task killers:
Things like Clock and Messaging have to do with your alarms, SMS/MMS, etc. so those will most likely always be active. Goo Manager is probably shown because it's probably set to check for updates every so often. If you want, you could probably go through the individual app's settings and check off anything that might be automatic, like updates.
If you're running an app and hit the Home key, it will usually keep that app running in memory. You can long-press the home key and see your last 8 used apps. This makes it easy when you want to multi-task between two programs quickly.
On the other hand, "backing out" of an app by using the back keys until you're at your home screen should close the app.
One thing I found out when I had my Prevail. You can use those Task Killers to stop some apps but there are certain ones that will always start right back up. One way that is certain to stop the apps in question is to FREEZE them with Titanium. There may be side effects from doing this that you might not like though. Be careful which apps you choose to stop or freeze.
